Sustainable Agriculture Development Initiatives (SADI)

Sustainable Agriculture Development Initiatives (SADI) is a registered Community-Based Organization (CBO) based in Bungoma County, Kenya. Established in 2014 as a self-help group and officially registered in 2019, SADI works to empower rural communities, smallholder farmers, women, and youth through sustainable agricultural practices, environmental stewardship, nutrition improvement, and economic empowerment. Our goal is to create resilient communities that can sustainably produce food, improve household incomes, conserve natural resources, and achieve better health and nutrition outcomes.

SADI was founded to address the challenges facing rural communities, including food insecurity, poor soil fertility, limited agricultural knowledge, environmental degradation, unemployment, and inadequate access to quality seeds and farming resources. We work directly with farmers and communities through practical training, demonstration farms, school programs, and community outreach initiatives. Through our farmer-centered approach, we equip communities with the knowledge, skills, and resources needed to improve agricultural productivity, nutrition, environmental conservation, and sustainable livelihoods.

Our Core Objectives

Our work is guided by the following objectives:

  • Promote sustainable farming practices that improve soil health and farm productivity.
  • Encourage efficient use of natural resources and environmentally friendly agricultural systems.
  • Empower youth through agricultural education and practical learning.
  • Strengthen household incomes through entrepreneurship and income-generating activities.
  • Improve food security and nutrition among vulnerable households.
  • Promote environmental conservation and responsible natural resource management.
  • Support community-led socio-economic development initiatives.
